Good Luck!

Today we lost a dear friend and colleague here at Eat fig. He's not dead, so calm down. He just moved out of the dirty Durham. He will still be in our lives and our hearts. Durham won't be the same without you, and only though I've known you for a little while, I am glad because you are one bad ass mofo.
Next time we go out, I am going to eat something in your name, maybe some tongue, or tummy or something equally un-cutlet-ed.

Have fun taking a big bite of life and exploring the world.

Only Burger

Only Burger is a burger truck with a simple concept: serve burgers and fries, and do them well. Although the truck does move around (visit their website for location), we found it on the corner of Guess and Carver in Durham. Their menu is small, prices include tax, and they take credit card!

Raj, Sabah, Jill, Teddy, and I went. I got the single with cheese and all the toppings (except I don't think I asked for mayo). Burgers are made to order, but you cannot get anything other than well-done, which was a bummer for me because I like mine pink. The toppings were fresh and generous, but by far the best part was the bun: toasted and buttered. However, as Sabah pointed out, no one wants the bun to be the best part of their burger experience. All in all, I would go back but probably wouldn't ever crave it.

Jill hangs out while Raj orders.

Menu - short and sweet.

Sabah, Jill, Becky, and Teddy doing...tough stances?

Burger time!!

Rue Cler

Rue Cler is a restaurant and bakery in downtown Durham. According to their website they are a Parisian-style restaurant that serves quality, affordable meals. They are known for their 3 course prix fixe menu and some a la carte options.
You can check them out for yourselves here:

Becky, Michael, Sabah and myself went and I will let them comment on their foods.

My thoughts:
I really liked it. It felt nice to dress up and go to a restaurant, and they have a perfect location in downtown Durham with two sides of the building being windows so you can see out. It looks very urban, but in a very dainty sort of way. I absolutely loved the ambiance and the environment. Some of the decor is a little chintzy french, but the lighting was perfect, the staff was knowledgeable and the food, delicious. I had a locally grown salad for my first course, brussels sprouts with homemade bacon and cheese, and the NC Snapper for my main. Now, I am not usually a Snapper fan, it's a fish I find either comes out great, or is too fishy. It was perfect. The portions were decent, and with three courses we were all stuffed.
All in all, I would definitely go back.

pictures to come.
